With everything going on in the world right now, I’ve been living in my head - my mind is always spinning. Is yours too?? 🌪 I created this blend to help ground me, keep me on my feet.
Our root chakra is located at the base of our groin area and is associated with the earth element and the colour red. It is our centre of safety and security and it is important to be balanced in this area for the other chakras to be in alignment - It is the foundation of all chakras!
Ingredients:
GINGER oil was my first go-to. It has strong analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, and is well, a root! So, naturally the association with this chakra is perfect - I intuitively knew it would help with grounding.
SPIKENARD isn’t an oil I use often, but it was calling to me. It’s deep, earthy aroma is warming and smoky, like a forest bonfire. 🤤 It is quietly sedative to the muscles while working hard to reduce inflammation.
PATCHOULI in my eyes, can do no wrong. It is a heavier oil, and the only one that actually gets better with age! It is widely used in Chinese medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3440699/)
Aromatic CINNAMON is derived from the bark of trees - it’s very grounding, and associated with the colour red. Another obvious choice for me! It works very well synergistically with the other oils used here.
Last but not least, BLACK PEPPER. It is highly analgesic & increases blood flow to the muscles, easing aches and pains. On an energetic level, it works to clear fear and anger.
Sidenote: I’ve been applying this to my hips with much relief, as well as incorporating gentle yoga postures (tree pose!) more root vegetables and red foods into my diet.
